Seasons are generous, the terrain is challenging, but only 5-10 all-inclusive spots are available each year. Call and book today to reserve yours!
Regarding big game animals, elk are easily one of the most popular and sought after trophies. You will quickly become excited hearing bugles across the still frosty landscape and the day light hitting the horizon. Glass the distance seeking herds of elk as they begin to graze. Use jeeps to access the expansive hunting area in this safari-style Texas panhandle hunt on a huge high fenced estate spanning 21 interconnected square miles of beautiful and challenging terrain. This is no ‘canned-hunt’ so be prepared to earn your bull elk among brushy creek basins and other brush-choked ripples in the landscape.
This ranch annually produces bulls that typically score in the 300 to 350 inches range. Every year several hunters encounter or harvest Elk that exceed the 350 inches however. This is a naturalized, self-sustaining population of Elk introduced three generations ago, not pen -aised and released. They are elusive, crafty and wary of humans. With patient and determined hunting however, this hunt results in high success rates for those who put their time in.
The rut typically lasts from the last weekend in September to the second weekend in October. This is a great time to book your hunt to experience action pack, spot & stalk rut hunting tactics for bugling bulls. Our Texas Elk hunts extend to the last week of January however accommodating many hunters schedules. Late season hunting strategies differ from those during the rut however, covering and glassing large areas proving to be the most effective way to find that big bull. Many hunters enjoy hunting towards the end of the hunting season however because they find the elk more predictable. This is largely due to the colder temperatures and the herds favored wintering locations. Most shots will be within a 200 yards but the potential for much longer shooting exists. Likewise, choose to use a bow, shotgun or muzzle-loader for a more up-close and personal type hunt if you prefer. Caliber choices from .270 and up are recommended, shooting 150+ grain bullets of a tough, bonded variety.
To ensure the highest trophy quality and hunting experiences, this is a very limited hunt, typically offered to 6 to 9 lucky hunters annually. Contact us for more details or to secure your spot for this fall or next season.
