Nestled in the Canterbury High Country on the eastern slopes of the South Island, this outfitter offers high-end luxury hunts on the largest certified game estate in New Zealand with monster Red deer scoring from 300” to 600”, incredible Fallow deer up to and surpassing 280”, trophy Wapiti, Arapawa sheep, goats and wild boar. This outfitter is so confident in our client’s experience that they offer a full refund if guests are not satisfied at the end of their stay!
Unlike very small “stocked” properties that are unfortunately all too common in New Zealand at budget pricing, this property is almost entirely self-sustaining with no need to supplement game animals or genetics from alternate areas. This was the first property to be fully certified by the New Zealand Association of Game Estates and remains the largest certified game estate in the country. If you want the very best, most natural fair chase estate hunts in New Zealand for monster stags you have found it. If a free range hunt is what you are looking for we can offer wilderness hunting on 60,000 acres of private property as well as multiple outfitter concessions offering quality wild stag, Tahr and Chamois. Please call us at 888-850-4868, Extension 705 for details.
The hunting is conducted on thousands of acres of mountainous tussock terrain with spring-fed valleys, black beech forest and brush covered slopes, tall grass and excellent year-round feed. Access is by 4wd vehicle and hunting is primarily conducted by spot and stalk methods. Bow hunters may use ground blinds as the stalking within range can be quite difficult at times. Rifle shot distances average 150 to 200 yards.
Antlered game species can be hunted from February to August of each season. Alpine species such as Tahr and chamois are available year-round however they are best hunted from April through August while their hair quality is at it’s prime.
All South Island species are offered and can be combined on a single hunt. Red stag, fallow, wapiti (elk), boar, Arapawa rams and goats roam the estate while free range hunts for Tahr, Chamois and Red deer are available on 60,000 acres of exclusive private property and various wilderness hunting concessions.
We strive to offer each group an exclusive experience tailored to their own interests and abilities. In most cases guests will have the lodge and estate to themselves for the duration of the hunt. This can be guaranteed depending on the hunt package booked and/or the number of members in each party.
A photographer/videographer is included with any red stag package over 425”. This allows clients to focus on the hunt and the experience of New Zealand without the distraction of charging batteries or digging out cameras.
We now offer a choice of accommodations including a rustic two-bedroom cabin located on the hunting estate ideal for those seeking traditional experience at a great value. The luxury lodge option offers four bedrooms each with en-suite baths, fine linen and heated floors. A private chef will prepare gourmet meals each day including duck, lamb and fresh seafood. Enjoy complementary wine, beer and spirits while conversing around the fireplace or in the outdoor hot tub.
Only highly experienced, personable and well-qualified guides are utilized and will ensure your satisfaction, success and safety. They are very experienced in trophy judging and measuring and use only the best equipment and optics. The head guide is also an instructor for the New Zealand Professional Hunting Guides Association’s Professional Hunter Academy with more than 35 years of experience.
New Zealand is one of the most unspoiled and popular hunting destinations for good reason; guests can enjoy a plethora of additional activities including world-class fly fishing, heli skiing, river jet boating, sailing, shopping, touring, etc., all easily combined to a big game hunt.
Rifles can be easily imported into New Zealand and we will assist clients who wish to take their own rifle on their hunt. The weapon import application can be submitted online with the New Zealand police department and requires a minimum of 30 days prior to arrival. For those who wish not to hassle with the stress of international travel with a firearm you may use one of several Sako rifles for the duration of your hunt at no extra cost. Archery equipment needs no import permit at this time.
