Iowa has been consistently producing trophy whitetails, and is responsible for an incredible number of Boone & Crockett class bucks entered into the record books. Here you might arguably find some of North America’s finest free-range bow and late season gun hunting for giant trophy whitetail bucks. Our outfitter operates in some of Iowa’s best big buck country, annually producing many fantastic whitetails, and hosts a number of whitetail hunting TV shows with much success. Year round scouting and the use of food plots, mineral licks, doe management, trail cameras and shed hunting worked in conjunction with local terrain and agricultural practices translates into high success rates at exceptional bucks. Here you have a good, honest chance at a record book Whitetail. Our outfitter also caters to spring turkey hunters, as well as offers exciting waterfowl and pheasant hunting packages, which can be added-on to various fall whitetail hunts. It should be mentioned that all Out of State hunters must apply for Deer or Turkey hunting license. The application must be done in May, and hunters are notified by Iowa DNR in either June or July if they have been successful. Archery tags can take as much as 3 years to draw, but late season gun tags (shotgun/muzzloader) can be obtained nearly every year. To apply, or for more information, please visit www.iowadnr.gov.
Our outfitter scouts year round to give each client the best opportunity to harvest a world class buck. Trail camera vigil and shed hunting ventures plays vital roles while scouting. An assortment of food plots are also planted and maintained across the hunting areas, such as clover for the earlier seasons, and turnips for late season. Food plots are always established in conjunction with agricultural practices which are together used to both grow big bucks, and get them into shooting range of hunters. These results lead to many tree stand and blinds established among strategic locations throughout the various properties. New and additional properties are always being secured where our clients have sole access to these prime hunting locations. Not even the land owners hunts these areas, and each property is only permitted 2 deer harvests annually to maintain low pressure and high quality. Over the years, our hunters have experienced harvest success rates as high as 75%, but with nearly 100% shot opportunity. The average bucks taken score an approximate 150 gross inches or more, and are 4.5 years or older. There are no trophy fees, and hunters are encouraged to harvest the biggest bucks they see. There is a $100 management fee however should a hunter harvest a buck scoring smaller than 125 gross inches. This is enforced simply to ensure that hunters are aware of the management and quality deer efforts being taken.
