Global Sporting Safaris "On the Sport Report" by Rick Kennerknecht

Mexico duck hunting - flooded pondsI visited Raramuri Ranch in August 2006. I flew into the Chihuahua airport and was picked up by Enrique's son, Enrique, Jr. We stopped for a nice dinner and then went on to the Ranch which was less than an hours drive away. I have traveled through many cities to hunting camps in Mexico. I was very surprised how clean Chihuahua was and how well maintained the 2-lane highways were here. Chihuahua is home to many private apple orchards and grows more than 30-Million boxes of apples each year. There are 88 and 158 apples per box depending on size. The apple industry in Chihuahua has actually created a middle class which is almost never seen in many other Mexican states. Chihuahua is also home to over 140,000 Mennonites who have contributed to the economy thru their hard work and Mexico duck hunting - incoming tealbusiness prowess. This all this said, Chihuahua is very low in crime and one of the cleanest and safest states in Mexico. Because of the low crime rate, there are far less "Federalies" present. I only saw home small jeep with 4 Federalies the whole 4 days I was there. Enrique is one of only two waterfowl and upland game outfitters in all of Chihuahua and he has long term leases on all of the best waterways and farmlands. There are lots of flooded corn fields that draw the ducks and geese by the tens of thousands. The area is also frequented by large and numerous flocks of white wing and morning dove. The ranch is clean and very comfortable and all bedrooms have privates baths and showers. The Dinning Room and Bar is nicely decorated in a hunting and fishing motif and well as the large sitting area and spa with a work out room. Take a look at the pictures on the website or give us a call toll free at 888-850-HUNT for more details.
