Welcome To Our Hacienda!

Our owner & outfitter, Dean Putegnat, designed the Rancho Caracol main lodge to be built as a hunting resort not like any other hunting lodge. Dean’s main goal was to provide you, our guest, a luxurious and comfortable place to relax after your hunt. Until you have spent a few days with us, it's hard to fully appreciate Rancho Caracol. Our main goal is to provide you with a luxurious, comfortable and unique place to relax during your hunting trip. The stone patios, intricate tile designs and thatched roofs of our lodge will give you the feel Old Mexico, without sacrificing any modern comforts. Our beautifully landscaped swimming pool offers a refreshing mid-day reprieve during hot weather months. And our hot-tub will work wonders on sore shoulders and tired legs after a successful day in the field.

Our guest rooms offer full-sized beds for full-sized hunters, and plenty of storage for your hunting gear. Our bathrooms are spacious with plenty of hot water, and maid service is provided daily.

We have a fully equipped kitchen for providing you with hearty meals that are specially prepared by our chef. Whenever possible you'll have the chance to dine on the daily harvest of game as well. From breakfast to dinner, you will not go hungry on this trip! Wine is served at lunch and dinner and our bar, stocked with the best name brands is always open. After all, you're on vacation!

We are not striving to be the biggest wing shooting destination in Mexico...only the best! We cater to small corporate and private groups. Our desire is to make you feel at home, while providing you with professional service in a unique style.

Travel Options

• Rancho Caracol is located 3.5 hours from the Texas border in Mexico's State of Tamaulipas.
• All guests should arrange their flights into the Valley International Airport in Harlingen, Texas. We will greet you at the airport and transfer you to the lodge by van.
• The van will pick you up at the airport at 4:00 PM. If you are staying in a local hotel. The van will pick you up at 3:30 PM before the airport pick up.
• Our bilingual staff has years of experience crossing hunters, and our goal is to insure each group a quick and easy border crossing.
• Charter air transportation to Rancho Caracol is also available for an additional fee of $400.00 per person. Flight time for an air taxi to the lodge is approximately 1 hour. Please call for more information.

White Wing Dove Hunting Package

Imagine a pleasant afternoon in September. You’re sitting in the shade of a mesquite tree overlooking a hundred acre sunflower field that is literally swarming with plump white-winged doves. It’s been non-stop action for the last thirty minutes. Your gun barrel is too hot to touch. You’ve been shooting like a mad man. Your throat is dry...it's time for a break. Besides, you’ve still got three more hours of shooting left. It's real...it’s a typical hunt...and it's waiting for you nearby the World's Largest White Wing Dove roost!

Season: August thru October

Pen raised birds have unfortunately replaced the native quail across most of the bobwhite's former range. Northern Mexico, however, still offers large blocks of prime habitat that support tremendous populations of purely wild birds. Quail hunting at Rancho Caracol is as exciting a sport as you will find. Hunt over well-trained Brittany’s and wide ranging pointers, walk the hedgerows, or ride in our especially equipped quail rigs. There are no pen-raised birds on our hunts. This is the real deal!

Deposit and Cancellation Policies

Deposit Policy: A 50% Deposit is required to reserve your requested hunt dates. The Deposit is not refundable, but may be applied to a future trip, the same season or the following season. Full payment is due 60 days in advance of your scheduled hunt. We recommend trip cancellation insurance, available from your insurance courier, travel agency or booking agency.
