Saskatchewan Deer Hunting Saskatchewan has long been known for its trophy whitetail hunting and I was privileged to hunt a virgin Canadian whitetail paradise this fall. The 16,000 acres of North Central Saskatchewan area we have access to has not been hunted in well over 10 years and is landlocked by private land ownership and our Outfitter has exclusive access.

This new area has some of the best cover, bush and farmland found in Saskatchewan and produces huge whitetail deer. The deer I took in November 2010 (see first picture to your right) was a 4x4 and scored 156 2/8. I harvested this buck on the 2nd day of my hunt. Later that week I watched several more in the mid-150 class and three (3) I am sure would have gone over 160. This area has great genetics.

The second deer you see to the left was harvested a week after I left. It had a drop tine, two broken tines and still scored 172. The outfitter received his tags just 3 weeks before the season so there have only been 2 whitetail deer taken so far in 2010. In Saskatchewan you can use bait so you will see both Whitetail and Moose at the same blind.

Global Sporting Safaris has 1 tag left for 2011 but it will not last very long. We are taking reservations now for 2012.

Travel for this hunt is very easy. Fly into Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where you will rent a car for the short 1 ½ hour drive to the lodge. While at the lodge you will enjoy some of the best home cooked meals that you can imagine. The lodge is in the bush but is very comfortable with 6 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

There is Satellite TV and phone service at the lodge. Breakfast consists of cereals, toast, bacon and eggs. The lunches are of the "sack" variety and you will have a fabulous home cooked meal for supper. Your day starts with Breakfast and then off to your stands about 7:00 or 7:15 am. (It doesn't get daylight until 8:30am).
You will be given a radio and you will set a time to call your guide if you have a deer or need something. You are never left alone all day. All blinds are heated and are either double bull blinds or wooden box blinds. They have a good chair and are very comfortable. It is recommended that you stay in your blind all day if you can. I shot my buck at 2:00PM. During the rut and when it is cold these deer are very active all day long. When you harvest you deer the guides will come and retrieve it for you and take it to camp where they will skin and cape it out for you. If you are taking the meat home with you there is an additional charge of .89 cents per pound to have them de-bone it.

If you are flying you will be responsible for shipping your own meat home. If you are driving there is no problem crossing the border with the meat, antlers or cape.

Hunt Dates run from November thru the first week in December. These are 6 day hunts and the hunts start on Monday ending on Saturday. In some cases we can start a hunt during the week but must first be approved by the lodge.
