Tamaulipas, Mexico Wingshooting

Welcome to Mexico’s most exclusive luxury wingshooting resort!

This area, in the state of Tamaulipas, has hundreds of thousands of acres of irrigated, food producing and nesting habitat for the birds that live and breed here. It supports huge flocks during their fall migration southward.

The State of Tamaulipas, Mexico has a farming-based economy, and enjoys a Coastal climate. Bordering on the Gulf of Mexico, there are large Corn and Sorghum fields, which serve as a large part of these birds’ diet.

It’s obvious why we built the ranch in this location-wingshooting, fast-action dove, duck and quail hunting like nothing else in North America.

Location(s) of Hunt

Our lodge is located on the Soto La Marina River, in Abasolo, in the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico, about 150 miles, (3½ hours), due south of McAllen, Texas.

Our scouts are constantly searching for the largest concentrations of bird hunting available in the area. Just hours before the hunt, the best location is selected and hunt preparations begin. Our guides will take you to a choice location that is generally only 20-50 minutes from the lodge.

Arrival/Departure Airport(s)

We highly recommend that you charter your commercial flight through McAllen-Miller International Airport in McAllen, TX. Continental Airlines, American Airlines and Delta Airlines all serve McAllen-Miller International Airport in McAllen, Texas, usually connecting via Houston, Dallas, Atlanta or Las Vegas. These cities are readily accessible from literally anywhere in the world

Private charter air flights are also available are from McAllen, Texas to Ciudad Victoria, Mexico; less than an hour drive from our lodge.

Mode of Transportation

All Hunting Packages include round-trip ground transportation from Valley International Airport in Harlingen, Texas or McAllen-Miller International Airport in McAllen, Texas. Hunting Overview

We conduct Field Hunts, Brush Hunts and Waterhole Hunts; just depending on what species our guests are hunting that day. Field Hunts are in or around agriculture fields, and shooting occurs as the birds are coming in and out of these fields. Brush Hunts are conducted as the birds are eating seeds and berries in the brush and as they fly from resting areas to feeding areas. Waterhole Hunts are set up around the birds’ favorite drinking sources.

Hunting these swarming birds will satisfy even the most aggressive dove hunter. Whether surrounding a crop field, backed up against a watering hole or watching over natural seed and berry thickets, the action is challenging and intense, especially late in the season. If you enjoy dove hunting in the U. S., you’ll love what we have in store for you in Mexico. Located only a few miles from some of the largest nesting areas in the world, there is no better fast-action dove hunting experience to be had anywhere in North America.

If it's all-wild Bobwhite Quail you're after, no place in North America offers more action than right here in Tamaulipas, Mexico!  Our quail hunts are conducted either in modern, Texas-style rigs or on foot along fencerows, over cut grain fields, open range and along a vast network of irrigation canals and adjoining farmlands.  With access to more than 70,000 acres of prime quail habitat, this is genuine upland hunting as few have ever experienced it.

We are also proud to offer spectacular Duck Hunting, both in the renowned coastal saltwater marshes near the Gulf of Mexico and on our inland marshes and ponds.  Bag limits are liberal, and include Pintail, Gadwall, Widgeon, Redhead, Canvasback, Mottled, Black, Bufflehead, Green Wing, Blue Wing and Cinnamon Teal, as well as three different species of Whistling Tree Duck.
