Year after year the state of Kansas has been producing some of North America’s finest trophy whitetail bucks. The fact that many parts of the state have low human population, are just one of the contributing factors of the big buck phenomenon. Other factors include limited hunting by way of permit only hunting. Kansas is an agriculture state and is a top producer of wheat, corn and other grains essential to strong whitetail herds. This agriculture land has many river, creeks, coulees, and lots of native CRP grasses that make for great bedding cover. Lastly, Kansas holds its rifle hunts after the peak of the rut. This assures some of the big mature bucks survive to see another year.
