Argentina Duck Hunting

Argentina Duck Hunting

If you're looking for a fast-paced Argentina duck hunting adventure, then this is the lodge for you. With flocks of up to 30 ducks showing themselves on a regular basis, many hunters are able to fill out their bag limits in well under an hour.

The Duck Shoot

Argentina Duck HuntingYou'll be hunting in comfort from carefully camouflaged blinds. The hunts are located along one of the San Javier Rivers, where you'll be positioned to shoot over the many islands or adjacent rice fields. The ducks are scouted daily and the outfitter's trucks and boats will take you to exactly where you need to be. Highly skilled bird-boys deploy species-specific decoys and call the ducks to make the shooting even better.

There are two shoots every day. The morning hunts begin early - you'll head out while it's still dark so that the hunt can begin at first light. Breakfast is served before departure. Total transport time to the blind, including the drive and the boat ride, is about one hour.

Argentina Duck ShootingThe hunt lasts until about 10:00 AM, but with a little luck, a skilled hunter can fill his bag limit in half an hour or so. The flocks are often quite large and the up-to-the-minute scouting ensures excellent shooting.

After the first hunt ends, you will return to the lodge for lunch and a well-deserved rest. At 3:00 in the afternoon, you will head out for the second hunt of the day. This hunt lasts until dark.

The most common species here are whistling and rosy-billed ducks, but teals occasionally show themselves as well.

The Lodge

Argentina Duck Hunting LodgeYou'll stay in a homelike lodge, featuring a fireplace, a thatched roof, and a dining room with incredible views of the river and the surrounding fields. Up to ten guests can stay in the lodge's five bedrooms, each of which features its own bathroom. A living room, bar, swimming pool, and recreation room provide places to socialize and relax between hunts, and a gun cleaning table and other essential facilities will allow you to keep your gear in top working order. Internet access lets you stay connected with the outside world.

Excellent old-fashioned asados (barbecues) feature prominently on the gourmet menu. Meals are accompanied with fine Argentinean wine and finished with wonderful desserts.

South America Duck HuntingAll twelve guests may be hunters, as the capacity is twelve guns. The services of the highly skilled guides and bird boys who will accompany you on your hunt are included in the price. Gun rentals are available if you don't have or don't want to bring your own.

Massage, maid, and laundry services are available to make your stay even more relaxing.

Getting There

Argentina duck hunting is some of the best in the world - but only if you take the time to put some distance between yourself and civilization. The lodge is about 300 miles from Cordoba International Airport.

Argentina Duck Hunting OutfittersGetting there from Cordoba: You can fly to Cordoba International Airport by first flying to Lima in Peru or Santiago in Chile, then taking a connecting flight to Cordoba. From the airport, it's about a six-hour drive to the lodge. It's certainly a long time to spend on the road, but you'll get to take in the gorgeous countryside of Argentina along the way.

Getting there from Buenos Aires: You can fly straight to Buenos Aires from the United States. From there, it's five and a half hours of driving to reach the lodge. Alternatively, you can take a domestic flight from Buenos Aires over to Veracruz, which will leave you with only two hours to travel by land. To cut down on driving time even further, you can book a charter flight to the San Justo landing strip. This reduces the driving time to less than an hour.

Getting there from Rosario: You can fly to Rosario Airport from Buenos Aires or from Santiago, Chile. It's about two hours and 40 minutes of driving from there to the lodge.

Combine Your Duck Shoot with Cordoba Dove Hunting

Cordoba Dove HuntingThis outfitter offers Cordoba dove hunts as well. One of their dove hunting lodges is located less than two hours from the Cordoba International Airport, and all of that driving time puts you closer to the lodge. You can ride to this lodge, hunt doves for a few days, then take a four-hour ride to the duck hunting lodge for the second leg of your hunt.
