Crossbow hunting is quickly becoming the bow hunting sport of choice adding thousands of new hunters to the industry each year. More and more states are allowing crossbows during the archery or hunting seasons with Oklahoma being one of the latest for the upcoming 2010 Archery Season.
I was delighted to see a new Crossbow Hunting Magazine from the editors of Bow & Arrow Hunting at my favorite Mini-Mart in Casper, Wyoming yesterday so I grabbed a copy with a Diet Coke and settled in to see what was new. There are 82 pages of crossbow hunting, equipment, manufacturers, arrows, scopes, broadheads and more. There is a nice article called “Ten Minutes with Ten Point” with Rick Bednar on page 32. If you are new to the sport of crossbow hunting, I would recommend that you read this article before you purchase your first crossbow.
I personally shoot a TenPoint Phantom CLS and have harvested two SCI #1 Record Book trophy animals and one #2 SCI Record Book trophy animal in the Crossbow Category in Argentina back in April. The TenPoint worked its magic, especially on my 2200lb Water Buffalo at 35 years with one shot. The combination of TenPoint Phantom and Muzzy Phantom (220gr. Broadhead) did the trick. The two Phantoms made a great combination.
