For as long as I can remember as a kid, the Brown Trout was always the unexpected prize when fishing in California’s High Sierra mountains for Rainbow trout with my father. Seeing the golden brown fish with its fiery red dots at the end of my line always elevated the excitement and sense of urgency to land this trophy trout no matter what the size. Many years later, I had the opportunity to fly fish Argentina’s Patagonia region with my father and catching the elusive brown trout never lost its luster or excitement. Now I have shared the same excitement with my son on the White River in Arkansas when he landed his first brown trout, a 5 pounder.
